Welcome, future scientists! This awesome session will challenge us to think about how we can “recycle” materials we all have around our house and transform them into building materials. We will learn some of the engineering design process and structural engineering concepts hands-on, using supplies like newspaper, loose cardboard and empty boxes, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, and paper cups to build platforms we can stand on, structures to “hide” in, model towers, or Rube Goldberg machines. Sessions will be led by instructors from the Center for STEM in Jewish Education housed at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School.
