Program Associate

Overview of the Organization:
The National Ramah Commission (NRC) creates and sustains excellent summer camps and Israel programs that inspire commitment to Jewish life and help develop the next generation of Jewish leaders. We support our network of overnight and day camps by creating leadership development opportunities for summer staff, coordinating meaningful alumni events, distributing grant and scholarship funds, and providing professional development for year-round Ramah employees. Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Program Associate who is enthusiastic about leadership development, community-building, and Jewish summer camping to work with teens, college-age, and young adult populations. Through the planning of impactful leadership training opportunities for teenage campers, camp counselors, and division heads, and oversight of vibrant lay-led alumni programs, the Program Associate plays an essential role in empowering the next generation of Jewish leaders. The Program Associate is supervised by NRC’s Director of Leadership.

Job Responsibilities/Tasks:

80% - Leadership Programs

  • Coordinate the logistics for our inaugural teen programming and 2-3 other in-person leadership development conferences, in partnership with the Director of Leadership and other NRC personnel

  • Assist in the development of educational themes and goals for the leadership development conferences.

  • Manage recruitment and registration for leadership development conferences and other teen programs. 

15% - Ramah College Network

  • Supervise a team of ~35 college coordinators across North America to support the implementation meaningful Jewish campus programs

  • Manage the programmatic budget for the Ramah College Network

5% - Additional Tasks 

  • Coordinate regular cohort meetings of different groups of Ramah professionals network wide

  • Write and select content for emails, social media posts, blogs, and articles about Ramah’s work

  • Attend and support occasional evening or weekend programs for Ramah alumni in NYC.

Requirements: 

  • Ability to come in person to NYC-based office in Morningside Heights at least two days a week (hybrid position)

  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends

  • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally (including to Israel) up to 5 times a year

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • At least 2 summers or 1 year working or volunteering at a summer camp, youth group, or other informal educational setting for youth and/ or young adults, ideally within the Ramah Camping Movement. 

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn how to use technology and social media platforms, including JotForm, Google Docs and Sheets, Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

  • Alignment with the core values of the Ramah Camping Movement, including a commitment to developing the leadership of college students and young adults.

Salary: 

  • $45,000-$55,000 annually
