Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Part-Time Human Resources Manager to oversee HR functions for Camp Ramah in California. This role will be essential in managing various HR responsibilities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall well-being and development of staff. The HR Manager will work closely with the COO to provide benefits support, ensure compliance, strengthen employee relations, and more. This is a 10-15-hour per week position, ideal for a professional looking to contribute to a positive and engaging camp environment.
Core Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration:
Administer employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
Provide support and guidance during open enrollment periods.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and resolve any issues or concerns.
Compliance and Legal Support:
Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations (e.g., wage and hour laws).
Stay updated on changes to HR-related regulations and provide advice on implementation and compliance.
Ensure proper documentation for HR-related processes and audits.
Payroll and HR System Management:
Work with payroll accountant to execute payroll for year-round staff and seasonal, summer staff.
Manage HR software system and recommend payroll process improvements, particularly around seasonal staff payroll.
Provide data reporting and analytics on employee metrics, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
Employee Relations:
Act as a resource for conflict resolution and mediation between staff members.
Conduct employee surveys to assess satisfaction and engagement.
Manage the annual performance review process and provide feedback support.
Training and Development:
Facilitate compliance training to ensure all employees are aligned with camp policies and regulations.
Identify opportunities for professional growth for camp staff and assist with training initiatives.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in Human Resources, preferably in a seasonal or educational setting.
Knowledge of HR compliance, payroll, benefits administration, and recruitment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and engage with a diverse team.
Proficiency in HR software (Paycom a plus), spreadsheets, and data management.
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently in a part-time capacity.
Knowledge of California state labor laws and regulations.
A passion for supporting and developing individuals in a camp or youth-focused environment.
Compensation:
$60-65 per hour
Flexible working hours, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
