A Message from the National Ramah Commission President and National Ramah Director

This NRC impact report tells the story of our community. It celebrates the 11,000 campers and young adult staff members who joined us in 2023; the hundreds of staff members who participated in our year-round leadership gatherings in North America, Israel, Argentina, and Berlin; the impact that we have on college campuses; and our expanded Reshet Ramah young alumni programming. It highlights programs that we run for our year-round professionals and lay leaders, and our commitment to ongoing onboarding, education, and mentoring. As you browse our report, you will read about new Ramah programs, including an overnight camp in Israel, day camp expansions, year-round retreats, synagogue-based programs, and travel opportunities for young adults and Ramah alumni.

This year, thanks to your support, NRC distributed more than $3,000,000 in grants including:

  • $1,064,375 to camps in the areas of affordability, staff wellness, mental health support, and Tikvah, among many others;

  • $1,030,000 in RootOne funding to offset tuition for teens to spend their summers in Israel;

  • $1,067,373 for expanding year-round staff fellowship and training programs, engagement programs for Ramahniks of all ages, opening new Ramah camps, including the first Ramah overnight camp in Israel developing new Ramah programs such as Ramah Beyond, and creating and organizing educational materials.

We are pleased to report that the continued support from foundations, philanthropists, and alumni has been instrumental in enabling NRC and our camps to accomplish all of the above. We are immensely grateful for your recognition of the outstanding success of Ramah.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to fostering thriving and transformative experiences within the Ramah network. Together, we are shaping a bright and promising future for the Jewish community, a community that is needed now more than ever.
