United Synagogue Youth Partners with Ramah Programs in Israel for USY High
Press Release: May 6, 2002

New York, NY – Beginning in February 2003, the United Synagogue Youth high school in Israel program, “USY High” will be run in cooperation with Ramah Programs in Israel and housed at the Goldstein Youth Village in Jerusalem. Previously, this unique 8-week academic program was operated for many years in cooperation with the Alexander Muss High School in Israel.

High school students in 11th and 12th grades, who have grown up in the Conservative movement’s USY and/or Ramah traditions, can apply for the two-month USY High program.

USY High is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Israeli Ministry of Education, and offers participants a rewarding curriculum and exciting tours guided by qualified staff and educators. Those who have had previous experience in USY or in Ramah camps will be excited and challenged by these opportunities.

Students in 10th and 11th grades who wish to participate in a 16-week program can apply for the fully accredited Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim, held from February until June.

Participants in USY High will have the chance to meet a large group of students and learn and travel with their friends, all within the rich and secure environment Ramah and USY have established over the years. Students will be based at Ramah’s Goldstein Youth Village campus, located in a secluded area of Jerusalem, where they will enjoy state-of-the-art sports and recreational facilities, including an indoor/outdoor pool.

Both USY High and Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim have operated successfully and safely though spring 2001 and 2002.
