Proposed New JTS Residence Hall for Graduate Students

Rabbi Michael Greenbaum, Vice Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer - February 13, 2002

Within the year, JTS hopes to begin construction on a new residence hall for graduate students. The facility is to be built on land recently acquired at the southwest corner of Amsterdam Avenue and 100th Street, in easy walking distance of the Seminary.

During the week of February 18th, sketches by three different architecture firms of proposed external designs and internal floor layouts will be on display between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm in Alperin Lobby. These materials will represent the creative thinking of the firms competing on the project.

We invite your comments and reactions to the displayed materials. Comment sheets will be available for you to complete. Your input will be helpful in choosing the project architect.

Once the architect has been selected, a small working committee of administrators and students will be assembled to work with the architect on the actual design plans for the new residence hall.

We are excited by the prospect of increasing our housing capacity so as to better meet the needs of our graduate students. We look forward to your participation in the public review of our design proposals.
