Camp Ramah in New England is located in a beautiful wooded setting, approximately 1˝ hours west of Boston and 45 minutes east of Amherst and
Northampton. Its close proximity to these major centers, and to the Berkshires, offers many opportunities to “play tourist.”
Centered around a spring-fed lake (with two sandy beaches), the camp
features separate areas for younger and older campers, with shared dining facilities. For staff, there is a new, air conditioned staff lounge building, featuring a games area, large screen television and satellite dish. This facility is often the center of staff programs, with enough space for dances, and plenty of couches for hanging out.
Ramah maintains two outdoor sports complexes, each with its own playing fields, equipment, tennis courts and basketball courts. A staff of full time specialists instruct, organize, and implement a full schedule of sports activities including aerobics, archery, baseball, fencing, football, soccer, softball, martial arts, tennis, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. In addition, there is a ropes course with both higher and lower elements, where campers of all ages participate in challenge activities. Highlights include a spider web, zip line and climbing wall.
The camp offers arts and crafts, woodworking, drama, music, singing, dancing, videography and photography.
Camp Ramah in New England offers a Tikvah Program for Jewish adolescents with learning disabilities, emotional disorders, mild mental retardation, and other developmental disabilities. The Tikvah campers are included in all the programs at Camp Ramah and are also involved in special educational training.
